Born Eastern Creek, N.S.W.; son of William James and Cecilia Blanche (nee Pike) Blomfield; husband of Ivy Elizabeth Blomfield, of Gilralla, Delamere St., Canley Vale, New South Wales. A fireman prior to enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 15 October 1915, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT "Star of England" (A15) on 8 March 1916. He was killed in action at Fromelles, France, aged 24 years.
