At 1100 hours on 6 October 1941, Wirraway A20-189 crashed into the sea at Swimashore Bay, Wilson's Promontory, Victoria, during an army cooperation exercise. The crew members were:-
Sergeant John Stuart Padman (8835) (Observer)
Pilot Officer (later Flight Lieutenant) Frederick Arthur Watchorn DFC (400848) (Pilot) Seriously injured, Discharged from the RAAF: 4 October 1945.
Commemorated on Roll of Honour in Balaklava SA, also his name is located at panel 99 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
