Entered the service from Pennsylvania.

S/Sgt Leo Kirschner volunteered for the US Army in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 20 April 1942. - Flack hit his bomb-bay, forcing it open about a foot with flame pouring out of it, and out of the gunner's hatch ... He stayed in formation for a short while, then he swung to the right and opened his hatch, which did not tear off ... When he stood up the slip stream hit him and knocked him back into the cockpit, and then flames poured out of the cockpit and he went into a right bank and a dive ... Just before he hit the ground someone fell out, but one parachute opened ... The plane hit the ground and exploded.
