Served as a member of Company C, 16th infantry, 1st division. He was killed in action during the October 1918 Meuse-Argonne offensive in France.

In Manchester, New Hampshire is a park (a Square), first called Park Common, bordered by Cedar Ave, Lake Ave, Pine and Chestnut Streets, dedicated as KALIVAS PARK in 1940, in memory of Christos N. Kalivas, who was killed during World War I, and later rededicated in 2002 to recognize all Greek-Americans who died while serving in the armed forces.
