Kletzly-Egli VFW Post 441 in Verona, Pennsylvania was named after him - one of first 2 soldiers from Verona, Pennsylvania killed in WWI. Two soldier friends wrote his mother, informing the family of his death. There were no remains found or recovered after the attack on his unit.

Lawrence's name is posted on a bronze war memorial on edge of town, Verona, Pennsylvania. Originally, there was a bronze dough boy as focal point, but after vandalism took its toll, an American Eagle has taken its place.

Single. No descendants. Worked as a pattern maker for the local steel industry according to the 1910 Federal Census.

Lawrence's tragic death shocked the family. The family split up, leaving Verona for New Philadelphia, Ohio ... led by the eldest brother, Charles. Second eldest son stayed in Verona to manage his mother's grocery store until it could be sold and ran his own paint and wallpaper business on Allegheny River Boulevard (site of current day post office).

On birth record, appears his name was originally spelled "Laurence" but no family recollection as to when the spelling was changed.

Born on Edmond Street, 16th Ward, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 16, 1891.
