Ervin Theodore Blix was born November 1898 in Nora Township, Clearwater County, Minnesota.

He perished - was lost at sea - on 4 October 1918 when the USS Herman Frasch collided with a tanker; his ship sank in seven minutes and some 25 men lost their lives.
