Captain Hugh Lefroy Crofton, 1st Battalion the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was the son of Captain Duke Arthur Crofton, Royal Navy, and Augusta M Crofton, of Lakefield, Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland.

Educated at the Mount Kelly College, Tavistock, Devon. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers as a 2nd Lieutenant on 2 Mar 1904. Promoted to Lieutenant on 9 Oct 1906 and to Captain on 4 Sep 1914. He served with the 1st Battalion in Tientsin, China during the revolt against and overthrow of the Qing Dynasty. The 1st Battalion was stationed in Trimulgherry, Secunderabad, India when WW1 started. The Battalion was recalled to the UK and landed at Avonmouth on 10 Jan 1915 and came under the command of the 87th Brigade in 29th Division. They moved to Rugby in Mar 1915 and sailed, via Egypt, landing at Cape Helles, Gallipoli, on 25 Apr 1915. Captain Crofton was killed in action on 22 May 1915. He is commemorated on a special memorial in Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery, Gallipoli, Çanakkale, Turkey.
