The many friends of Wm B. Pendry will be surprised to hear of his sudden death at the Allred Hotel Thursday morning.
From reports Bill had just recovered from an attack of the flu and not feeling much like working had decided to come to Afton a few days and see if he could collect a few of his outstanding accounts, and also do some work here. He started out on the stage last Friday, but commenced to chill soon after leaving Montpelier. However he was too far to walk back so remained on the stage and came on over. Arriving in Afton he tried to get warm but seemed to take chills and decided to go to the hotel. Saturday he was a little better and was around town a few minutes but had such a fever he decided to go back to bed. The fever remained with him several days and not until Tuesday was he able to sleep and then only when under a hypodermic.
His wife came in Tuesday, and Wednesday he seemed better and expected to be up in a few days. He seemed to be sleeping as usual when all of a sudden he just stopped breathing and died without a struggle. He did not suffer severe pains and was rational all of the time until he went to sleep about an hour before his death.
William was well known in Star Valley having spent a large part of the last seven years here doing plumbing work although he always claimed Montpelier as his home.
He was married about six years ago to Myrtle Huff of Montpelier and they have a baby girl about four years old.
The body was taken to Montpelier for burial, his wife accompanying it.
We extend our sympathy to the bereaved wife and parents and are certain Wm's jovial face and happy shout and smile will be greatly missed.
