Born June 13, 1910, in Norfolk, Va., to James Horner and Laura Flanagan Winston, he married Dorothy Ann Zeis on Sept. 10, 1933, in Trenton, N.J. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Patrick of Concord, Mass.; one granddaughter; and one brother, Albert of Williamsburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
He practiced law in East Peoria for many years. Prior to that, he worked for the Peoria and Pekin Union Railroad.
A 50-year member of the Tazewell County Bar Association, he also was a member of the Illinois Bar Association and a charter member of the East Peoria Optimist Club.
Private graveside services will be in Fondulac Cemetery. Deacon Charles Murray will officiate. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
