Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, Robert was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 20, 1946.

Robert's remains, along with the remains of his entire crew, were recovered in 2008 and they were all interred at the Arlington National Cemetery on August 27, 2008.

For his burial site at Arlington " Click Here ".

A "Rosette" was placed in front of his name here at Manila to signify that his remains were recovered.

Husband of Marian Mote Coleman who resided in Woodcrest, Delaware.

Robert, who resided at 1715 Rodney Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Captain & Pilot on B-24D "The Swan" (#42-40475), 63rd Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1941, prior to the war, in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

He was married sometime after his enlistment.

Robert was originally declared "Missing In Action" when his crew, while on a armed reconnaissance mission over the Bismarck Sea, did not return to base.

After his remains were recovered his status was changed to "Killed In Action".

He had served in the Air Corps for two years and four months at the time of his death.

Robert was decorated with the Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart.

Robert also has a cenotaph in Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington, Delaware - " Click Here ".
