Darby Driscoll arrived in 1820 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He was of Cork, Ireland.

Some say that Jeremiah Driscoll came from New England.

They apparently lived in New Brunswick at one time as Flora Driscoll said she was three months old at the time of the Miramichi fire which was in October 1825 and that they crossed over the Bay Chaleur to Gaspé in an open boat.

He is found with Mary McDonald in Cape Breton in 1827, age 20 children being baptized at the Gut of Canso. Jeremiah built his own boat, and fished in Newfoundland in the summer. He returned to Bay St. Lawrence in the off season. On one return, he was caught in a squall and landed on Entry Island, Magdalen Islands. He liked it there and moved the family over.

At some point in time, Jeremiah and some of his family lived in the household of Daniel McLean and Clarissa Goodwin on Entry Island according to Mary (Clarke) Dunn. They left prior to 1860. He shows up next with Mary on the 1860 and 1870 censuses in Westport, Lincoln County, Maine with son Daniel, a fisherman. John Driscoll age 10 b. abt 1850 was living with them. Who was he? A grandson? Daughter Eleanor Driscoll, married David Dickson Jr., mariner & fisherman of Entry Island and they are in Boothbay, Maine in 1850. Eleanor died before 1866. Eleanor P. 'Nellie' Dickson is living with her grandparents in 1870 in Westport. David Dickson's half-brother Capt. George Henry Dickson and famiily are in Southport, Lincoln Co., Maine. Two daughters, Nancy Driscoll and Catherine Driscoll would marry in Maine. Nancy married to Robert Bernard Barron, clerk, watchman & widower, native of London, England. Some say 'Nancy' is Ann. Catherine married in Westport, Nathaniel L. Moore, fisherman.

Mary, Jeremiah's widow and son Daniel returned to the Magdalen Islands after his death and lived with her daughter Flora (Driscoll) Clarke and Henry B. Clarke at Old Harry Head.

His age on his stone appears to be off 10 years. Per census records he should be 84 not 94. Perhaps an error by the stone carver?
