Born 8 May 1896 in Richland County. Retired in 1960 as a heater at Empire Detroit Steel Plant where he had worked for 47 years. Member of Hilltop Community Church, and recently has attended Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survived by wife Freda Schmidt Beer; sons Carl R. Beer (of Mansfield) and Dale M. Beer (Bucyrus); 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step-sons, Robert Newell (Mansfield) and Richard Caton (Sandusky); 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Harbaugh (Mansfield) and Mrs. Alice Owens (Mesa, AZ); brothers Harry, Albert, Chester, Carl E., and Richard (all of Mansfield); sister, Mrs. Grace Norrick (Lexington). First wife Minta Swaidner Beer died 1959. Burial St. Peter's Cemetery, Richland County.
