Edwin served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-24H #42-52575, 782nd Bomber Squadron, 465th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He resided in Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 1, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as being Single, without dependents.

B-24H #42-52575 took off from Pantanella, Italy on a bombing mission over Ploesti, Romania. After a successful bombing mission, and while returning to base, it was noticed that one of their engines was damaged apparently from ground anti-aircraft fire over the target. They crashed into the Adriatic Sea just off the coast of Yugoslavia during the war.

Edwin was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
