He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 27, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, without dependents.

Michael was "Killed In Action" over the Ploesti Oil Complex, Romania during the war when his B-17 was shot down by enemy flak. He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
