Vera Inez Culp, 98, of Berne peacefully entered her heavenly home on Nov 22, 2020, at Swiss Village after a period of declining health.

She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Berne to Emanuel and Celina (Sprunger) Neuenschwander. She married Howard Culp on Oct. 24, 1948 and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1981.

Vera was a faithful member of First Mennonite Church in Berne and served many years in various capacities, singing in the choir, working with the Children’s Bible Hour Program, as Cradle Roll Director and serving on the Visitation Committee. She worked many years at the Faith and Life Bookstore, where Howard was the manager. She also worked for a period of time at the Ben Franklin store in Berne. She continued to volunteer for many years, working the evening desk at Swiss Village and at the Et Cetera Ecke MCC Thrift Shop for over 25 years. She cross-stitched a quilt for each of her four children and was an avid reader. Her grandchildren will always remember faithfully receiving birthday cards from her and her awesome desserts.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Arletta Fagan) Culp of Fort Wayne and Richard (Ruth Meissner) Culp of Narvon, Pa; two daughters, Judy King of Dalton, Ohio and Peggy (Neil) Reichenbach of Bluffton, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Adam (Kate) Culp; Andrew (Katie) Culp; Heidi (Bryan) Kabot; Emily (Mike) Grenier; Brandon (Jess) King; Danae King; Jordan (Alexis) King; Joel (Emily Yarman) Reichenbach; Lauren Reichenbach; Amy (Sean) Fisher; fifteen great-grandchildren, Alex Culp, Hudson Culp, Jonas Culp, Judah Culp, Walter Culp, Iris Culp, Andrew Culp, Anneke Kabot, Nathan Kabot, Matthew Kabot, Noah Grenier, Gracelyn Grenier, Evangeline Grenier, Everett King and Elijah King and many nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant brother, two sisters, Adeline Berkey and Ida Graber; two brothers, Glen Neuenschwander and Howard Neuenschwander, and a son-in-law, Glen King.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020, at First Mennonite Church in Berne with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
