Ramona Joy Dixon
(May 29, 1920 - February 28, 2010)
Ramona Joy Dixon of Centerville, Missouri, daughter of the late Florence Mae Caviness Patterson and John Frederick Patterson was born at Chariton, Iowa, on May 29, 1920, and lived in Iowa for the first 86 years of her life. She departed this life at Southbrook Nursing Home in Farmington, Missouri, on February 28, 2010, at the age of 89.
On August 12, 1936 in Creston, Iowa, Ramona was united in marriage to Chester L. Ray. On December 24, 1946 in Orient, Iowa,
Ramona was united in marriage to J. Paul Buchanan, he preceded her in death on January 1, 1983.
And on September 5, 1984, Ramona was united in marriage to John Pershing Dixon and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2006.
Ramona was a member of the United Methodist Church in Orient, Iowa, the Woman's Mission Union, the Woman's Afternoon Club and the Card Club. When she lived in Iowa, Ramona worked for the Orient Sale Barn, the Orient Café and the Orient Consolidated Schools as a cook. Ramona enjoyed bowling, working puzzles, reading, doing wallpaper, refinishing furniture, taking care of her home and family, playing games and working in her garden. Ramona's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, Rollie L. Ray, two step-sons, Robert Buchanan and James Paul Buchanan, three brothers, Gurney Otto Patterson, Leo Patterson and Russell Patterson, four sisters, Twila Goddard, Lila Scadden, Vera Goddard and Doris Addison.
Ramona is survived by one son, Chester L. Ray Jr. and wife Darlene of Clovis, New Mexico, one daughter, Patt Middleton and husband Joseph Sr. of Centerville, Missouri, one step-daughter, Fran Davison of O'Fallon, Missouri, two step-sons, Doyle Dixon and wife Jeanne of Georgia, Bill Dixon and wife Ida of Iowa, and many loved nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Ramona will be deeply missed by her family and friends who will mourn her passing.
