Survived by his wife of 54 years, Bridget Cefalu Schmidt, Baton Rouge; a daughter, Sharon Schmidt Elzie, Tallahassee, Fla.; a son, Ashley Ray Schmidt, Amite; four sisters, Emma Will, Rogers, Texas, Nora Pease and Lena M. Fothergill, both of San Antonio, and Mathilda Brantly, Dallas; and three grandchildren, Thomas A. Schmidt, Amite, and Charles A. and Christina M. Malloy, both of Tallahassee.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank K. Schmidt and Lena Voight Schmidt; and a brother, Fred O. Schmidt.
