Frank H. Schmidt, a retired state employee, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 85 and a native of Rosebud, Texas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., until religious service. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Bridget Cefalu Schmidt, Baton Rouge; a daughter, Sharon Schmidt Elzie, Tallahassee, Fla.; a son, Ashley Ray Schmidt, Amite; four sisters, Emma Will, Rogers, Texas, Nora Pease and Lena M. Fothergill, both of San Antonio, and Mathilda Brantly, Dallas; and three grandchildren, Thomas A. Schmidt, Amite, and Charles A. and Christina M. Malloy, both of Tallahassee.

Preceded in death by his parents, Frank K. Schmidt and Lena Voight Schmidt; and a brother, Fred O. Schmidt.
