William was William JILES a Union veteran of the Civil War serving 8m 1862 - 10m 1863 as a Private in Company B. 1 US Inf. He was shot through the flesh of the knee and that likely was the reason for his discharge. He was of Lindley Twsp, Mercer Co, Missouri when he died about 1864.∼In 1850 William Giles was 18 and living with his parents Edward and Elizabeth and siblings Mary age 30, Margaret age 25, Stanly age 16 and Edward age 14 in Luzerne Twp, Fayette Co, Pa. He left there and came to Missouri where he met and married Mildred Elizabeth Milissa Seymour abt. 1857. William fought in the Cival War he enlisted in August 1862 as a Private in Co. B. 1st US Inf. and after serving 1 year and 2 mo. was discharged in Oct. 1863. His disability incured when he was shot through the flesh of the knee. As of right now we know William died in Missouri probably Mercer Co, but we haven't been able to find his grave.
