Nettie E. Hoertling, 91, of Lodi died Feb 23, in a local hospital after a long illness. She was born Nettie Bechthold on July 17, 1908.
Mrs. Hoertling was the daughter of early Lodi settlers. She married Karn Hoertling in 1931 in Medford, Ore.
She had a craft and knitting shop in Lodi in the early 1940's and taught knitting at Lodi High School for over 20 years.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and Sacramento Arrangers Guild. She was a 50 year member and past president of Lodi Garden Club from 1955 to 1957.
She supervised the Lodi Grape Festival Flower Show for over 20 years and enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and crafts.
She is survived by her sister Claudine Eibing of Sacramento; brother, Walter Bechthold of Lodi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Karn Hoertling in 1990; infant son, Gerald Hoertling; brothers, Alex, Edward, Gerald and Arthur Bechthold; and sisters, Ruth Leavitt and Lillian Palmer.
A chapel service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lodi Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Fabila of Salem United Methodist Church officiating.
Committal will be at Lodi Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lodi Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to service time on Saturday.
