Lenora M. Wissmiller, 88, of rural Yorkville, IL died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. Lenora M. Wissmiller, 88, a resident of rural Yorkville, IL., died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born April 9, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, IA., the daughter of the late George and Laura (nee Russel) Dippel.
Lenora was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL., the Kendall County GOP Women's Organization and the Yorkville Women's Club.
Lenora graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, then taught in the Cooksville, McLean County, IL. school. For many years prior to her retirement, she taught English and Speech at Yorkville High School. During this time, she obtained her Masters Degree from Northern Illinois University. In her spare time, she was a founding member of the Fox Country Players Theatre, directing many of their dinner theatre and musical productions.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin, whom she married on June 16, 1941 in Marion, IA; eight children, Patricia (John) Hambly of Yorkville, IL., William Wissmiller of Plainfield, IL., Paul (Linda) Wissmiller of Yorkville, IL., Bruce Wissmiller of Singapore, Alice (John) Hemphill of Dubuque, IA., Andrew (Deb) Wissmiller of San Francisco, CA., Anthony (Sue) Wissmiller of Morris, IL., and Jean (Craig) Stables of Hokah, MN; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Dippel of El Reno, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kay Sleezer; and one nephew, Matthew Wissmiller.
Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at the McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd & Cremation Services, at 210 S. Madison St. in Oswego, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL. Burial will take place at the AuSable Cemetery in Nay-Au-Say Township, IL.
