MADONNA M. ADCOCK
Madonna Marie (Stone) Adcock was born on June 26, 1928 at her great-grandmother Stone's home on East 1st Street in Ainsworth, Nebraska. She passed away on April 14, 2010 at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth after a lengthy illness. Madonna was the oldest child born to Joe and Frieda (Valentine) Stone.
She spent her entire childhood in the Wood Lake area, graduating from high school there in 1948. She met the love of her life, Dean Adcock, at a dance in 1945. After his tour of duty in the Army, they resumed their romance and were married on February 28, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Long Pine.
Madonna worked in local grocery stores for many years. Dean and Madonna bought a farm west of Ainsworth, and Madonna retired to become a farmer while Dean worked construction. After Dean's death in 1987, she babysat, worked in her yard and spent time with friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother; husband Dean; and two grandsons, Doug and Robert.
Madonna leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Nadine Baxter and friend Doug Mulligan, Ainsworth; one son, Danny and wife Denise, Ainsworth; one brother, Donald Stone and wife Berniece of Ozark, Missouri, one sister, Darlene Low and husband Harold of Arapahoe, Nebraska; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sautrday April 17, 2010 at the Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Pastor Cathy Cole officiated the service. Music was provided by Jenny Wysocki. Rites were also given by the Ainsworth Does Drove #54. Pallbearers were Brian Baxter, Shane Adcock, Bradley Adcock, Kenny Furrow, Chris Osterman, and Everett Densberger. Burial was held at the Union Cemetery west of Springview, Nebraska.
Memorials were suggested to the Union Cemetery or to the Ainsworth Does Drove #54.
