Funeral services for Doris Elizabeth Fay, 93, were held at Zion United Church on Saturday, Aug. 7, with the Rev. Michael Vaughan officiating. Interment was in Clifton Memorial Park.

Doris Elam was born in Armor, S.D., on July 1, 1917, to Orpha and Birdie Elam. She passed away on Aug. 4, 2010, after a brief illness at Clifton Care Center.

She married Harold Cox on Nov. 22, 1939. They moved to Texas in the late 1940s and established and operated a popular fishing camp on Lake Whitney. She worked for the V.A. in Waco for 18 years. In her retirement, she and Harold enjoyed traveling until his death on Dec. 29, 1990.

She also enjoyed shopping, sewing, the Blue Bonnet Club in Laguna Park, and attending church with her sister, Dorotha.

At age 80, she took her beloved niece, Carol, on a cruise.

She married Clint Fay on March 4, 2005, at the fair age of 87, and they moved to Clifton. In this marriage, she gained a loving family which was mutually enjoyed until her death.

She was known as the "Lady in Pink." She was blessed with excellent health, still driving and living a full and independent life.

She was a member of Zion United Church for over eight years.

Survivors include nieces, Carol Elam and Jennifer Bawden and her husband, of Nashville, Tenn.; step-children Patricia Pate, her sons, and families of Clifton; Michael Fay and wife, Teri, of Colleyville, their sons and families; and Kenny Fay and his wife and children of San Antonio; as well as many cherished friends.

Pallbearers were Mike Fay, Doughlas Fay, Clint Pate, David Sager, Jeff Hollinger, and Jim Bothwell.

Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
