United States Army Air Force Aviator. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the 350th Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group.

He died during his service in Melkwezer, Linter, Flemish Brabant, Belgium, and was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
