Levi Byrd, 101, 7536 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio, died at his home at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1972.

He was born in Clay County, KY, a son of James and Catharine McDaniel Byrd, and received his education in the public schools there. He was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church, Clay Co., and was an eight time post master of the Robert Clark Lodge 646, F and AM where he received his 50-year pin in 1955. Mr. Byrd was a farmer, stock breeder and a lumberman before moving to Hamilton in 1964. In 1918 he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucinda Gay Byrd. In 1928 he married Etta Huff. He had 10 children.


Surviving are his widow, Etta Huff Byrd, three sons, Everett Byrd, Owsley County, Ky, Clay C. Byrd, Hamilton, Oh, with whom he resided, and Claude Byrd, Brookville, Ind., five daughters, Mrs. Holt (Lillie) Combs, Dillsboro, Ind., Mrs. William (Lena) Wilson and Mrs. Arlie (Lora) McCracken, both of Hamilton, Mrs. Sidney (Mae) Montgomery, Pasadena, Tex., and Mrs. Merritt (Jewell) Byrd, Lebanon, Oh. Also: 42 grandchildren : 75 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Webb Funeral Home, Ross Ave. and S D St. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m.
