He was born in Warren Township August 26, 1893 and was a resident of Lake County all of his life. He moved to Wadsworth in 1957. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth; The Senior Citizens Friendship Club of Waukegan, The American Association of Retired Person, The Navy Veterans of World War I, and the American Legion Post #281 of Waukegan. He was a carpenter by trade but later was associated with the George F. Doyle Distributing Company becoming General Manager and part owner. He retired in 1953 due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Doyle), 1 daughter Betty (George) Canfield of Wadsworth, 3 sons, William (Mary Lee) of Batesville, Indiana, James (Janet) of Waukegan and John (Phyllis) of Wadsworth. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elbert and George and by one sister, Bernice Elsbury. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 3, 1991 at St. Patrick's Church, Wadsworth with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Relatves and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, 1991 at the GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, Illinois. Donations in his memory may be made to the Newport Fire Department in his memory.
