Elijah Daniel was the 4th of 12 children born to Joseph Hall and Emaline.
He served as a Principal in the public schools and desired to become a minister. However, he was called by the Confederate cause and died on the field of battle in Virginia. His Bible, worn from use, was returned to his parents. (John H. Cook, A History of Chattooga County, A. B. Mercer U., 1931, p. 152.)
