Dies In Camp
Carl C. Johnson, who left with the last October draft for Camp Forrest, Georgia, passed away November 6 from pneumonia, following the influenza. Mr. Johnson was taken sick soon after reaching camp. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson of Strathcona, Minnesota and was born in Stevens county (MN) June 24, 1896. He was well known in Douglas County as he had resided on different farms near Alexandria at different times, making his home with his parents. The family moved to Strathcona August of this year.
The funeral services were held at Strathcona, and as it was the first military funeral to be held there, the funeral was largely attended. Interment was made in the Strathcona cemetery.
Besides his parents, Mr. Johnson leaves five brothers and five sisters to mourn his death. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson's to enter the service. Albert, now in France, and Peter with the United States Guards in Texas.
