Well Known Retiree of Huntington Dies.

Funeral services were held yesterday in the Huntington United Church for William McKinley Williams, 72, Stewart Rd., Huntington. Mr. Williams died Sunday in Southern Lorain County Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Mandale, Ohio, Mr. Williams lived in Wakeman and New London before moving to the Stewart Rd. farm about 30 years ago. He and Mrs. Williams, (Leona) who survives, celebrated their golden anniversary in August of 1967.
In addition to operating a dairy and chicken farm with the aid of his family, Mr. Williams at various times worked at the Bigelow Tile Co., New London, the Sterling Foundry, and until his illness forced retirement at the Pipe Plug Co. During the war years he worked double shifts holding two jobs.

Unable to secure much formal education for himself, Mr. Williams and his wife have been justly proud of the fact that most of their nine children have been inspired and able to go on through high school, college, and some even to graduate study. An outstanding record of family achievement has been made by the group.

Helen (Mrs. Eugene Martin), of Chicago, as a housewife and mother, won a PTA scholarship to complete her education; Peggy (Mrs. Joe Cannon), of New York, is a nurse and has been instructor to incoming student nurses at Bellevue Hospital, N.Y.; Mrs. Lois Young, of Dixie Hills, N.Y., is a teacher; Mrs. Charlotte Ivy, of Cleveland, is a secretary in the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland; four sons are McKinley, of Oberlin, long time scout leader in Huntington and the Firelands area; Richard, of Oberlin, and Lt. Col. William Williams, psychiatrist and sociologist with the U.S. Air Force, Tokyo.

Surviving also are 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Vernon Stafford and Mrs. Beulah Roman, both of Flint, MI.; Mrs. Luella Spencer, of Lorain; and four brothers, John, of Dayton, Schuyler, of Haviland, Furl of Lima, and the Rev. Clayton Williams, of Flint, MI.
The Rev. Dale Clark and the Rev. J. W. Mellick officiated in the services.

Burial was in Huntington Cemetery.

The Norton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
