GENEVIEVE WACKER
Genevieve Mae Wacker, 82, of Wellington, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, after a long illness.
Born in Ashland, she graduated from Sullivan high school in 1942. She had lived in the Sullivan, Huntington and Brighton areas, and spent the past 20 years in Wellington. She was a retail clerk at A&P for 20 years. She also worked at Kimmel's Drug Store and as a cook at the Brighton school. Mrs. Wacker spent most of her life as a homemaker and mother. She belonged to United Church of Huntington and enjoyed crocheting and baking. She also loved to fish.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Leon; sons William Wacker of Myrtle Beach, S.C., James Wacker of Wellington, John Wacker of Nesbitt, Miss., and Robert Wacker of Marysville; daughters Judith Ferry of Russell Springs, Ky., Brenda Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi Koons of Ashland; and a brother, Alan Gordon of Willard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary (nee Snoddy) Gordon, and a brother, Weldon Gordon.
Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at United Church of Huntington, 26677 State Route 58, Wellington, and also 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. funeral services at United Church of Huntington. The Rev. Stephen Carmany will officiate.
Burial will follow at Huntington Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to United Church of Huntington. Arrangements were handled by Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington.
