HAROLD HOLLINGSWORTH, ARMY VETERAN

NEW LONDON -- Harold Henry Hollingsworth, 82, of New London, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 18, 1918, in Amherst.

Hollingsworth was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945.

He worked as a mechanic for E&L Transport, Lorain, for 23 years, retiring in 1980.

He attended Park Ave. United Methodist Church of Amherst and was a member of the Stonington Masonic Lodge No. 503, Amherst, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also was a member of the Shriner Scottish Rite, Cleveland. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and bird watching.

Survivors include his wife, Marian (nee Young); sons David H. of New London and Daniel R. of Amherst; daughter, Pamela S. Hollingsworth of New London; brother, Raymond of Sheffield; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eliza (nee Lutz) Hollingsworth.

Friends may call Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cowling-Truman Funeral Home, 218 Herrick Ave. E., Wellington, where the Stonington Masonic Lodge No. 503 will perform a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kent Joy of Park Ave. United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Huntington Cemetery, Huntington.
