W C Cato
The subject of this notice, W C Cato, was born Sep 19th, 1868, and died January 8th, 1888, aged nineteen years three months and nineteen days. Never during our life were we more surprised than when the said intelligence was conveyed to us that Cullen was dead; for only a few days previous we saw him and heard his merry voice.

Cullen was always a pleasant and agreeable companion, full of energy, and just merging into manhood, seemingly with the promise of a long and pleasant life.

But how uncertain is life, and how true the Proverbs that we are creatures of few days, and though we come forth as a flower and flourish as a palm tree, yet we are soon cut down and are no more.

He leaves fond parents and several affectionate brothers and sisters to mourn his loss; but weep not dear loved ones, remember that if God's ways are dark that they work for our good, and that He is able and often turns apparent evil into good. Therefore dismiss your doubts, mourn not, but remember that the Father guides you and that the Son loves you.

Remember friends, as
you pass by,
That all mankind are
born to die;
Then let your cares on
Christ be cast,
that you may dwell with
Him at last.
