Sara ‘Gracie' Sypolt DeWitt Fisher

Sara "Gracie" Sypolt DeWitt Fisher, 61, of Kingwood, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at Ruby M e m o r i a l Hospital.
She was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Terra Alta, a daughter of the late Dailey R. and Twila K. Poling Sypolt.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Faith, NC. She graduated from Terra Alta High School in the class of 1966. She enjoyed crafts, gospel music, jewelry and looking pretty. She was one of the first women coal miners at CONSOL. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is survived by two sons, Richard H. DeWitt Jr. & spouse Michelle of Millington, TN, and Matthew W. DeWitt of Kingwood; a daughter, Katherine Fisher of Charleston, SC; four brothers, Harold Sypolt & spouse Diane of Bretz, Russell Sypolt & spouse Cheryl, Donald Sypolt & spouse Josephine, and Tim Sypolt & significant other Jan Bucklew, all of Terra Alta; a special sister and friend, Linda & Bob Gidley of Kingwood; six grandchildren, Davina Grace and Michael DeWitt, Matthew, Corbin and Sara-Ann DeWitt, and CarrMichael Fisher Myatt; aunt, Ruth Sypolt of Kingwood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, John & Minnie Poling, and Clyde & Rheua Sypolt.
Friends were received at Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, from 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, with Pastor Barry Adkins officiating. Burial will followed in Terra Alta Cemetery.
