Mr. Parker returned to Graham in 1901 before moving to Oklahoma in 1904. In 1908, he married Miss Dora Montgomery in Oklahoma. The couple moved to Wichita Falls 1923, and he returned to Graham in 1924. She preceded him in death.
Services were held at the First Christian Church for Richard Clay Parker, 83, retired oilman officiated by Rev. L.H. Hames, the pastor and assisted by Rev. Hubert Foust, pastor of First Baptist. Mr. Parker moved to Young County from Navarro County in his early teens with his parents. He was an independent oil operator for many years in Northwest Texas and Oklahoma. He served as Representative of this District in the Texas State Legislature in 1941 and 1944. Mr. Parker was interested in civic and church work, served as Elder and Deacon for years. He had been a member of the Christian Church over 60 years and was Elder Emeritus at the time of his death. HIs father, H.J. Parker, was a pioneer Church of Christ minister in Young County.
Survived by his daughter - Mrs. Charles O. Parsons; one granddaughter - Mrs. A.L. Collier; three nephews - Ernest Parker, Dr. Warren Reed, H.J. Short; two great-grandchildren - Debra Collier and Bobbie Collier.
