Paulding County, Ohio Card Catalog (Death Notice)

George Burk, son of John and Catherine Burk, was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, Jan. 1, 1857 and departed this life March 5, 1937, at the age of 80 years, 2 months, and 2 days.
He was the second youngest of a family of ten children and among the earliest pioneers in this vicinity. His father and mother came here from Harper's Ferry, Va., when Paulding county was a vast wilderness and Indians were still roaming the forest.
He was united in marriage to Angeline Foreman, June 22, 1881, and built their own home on the farm where they have spent their entire life.
To this union were born six children - Mrs. Charles Whetstone, Mrs. Helen Ruger, and William of Payne, and Etta of Fort Wayne. A daughter Gertrude and a son Jack preceded him in death. He also leaves to mourn nine grandchildren and one brother.
With his conscientious convictions and sincerity he formed many friendships which endeared him to a wide circle of friends. His life has been a beautiful one of unselfishness. His great devotion to his wife and children was a thing of beauty never to be forgotten. The heritage he leaves to his children and grandchildren will live on and always be an uplift to those he has left behind. The separation from this faithful husband and father is the heaviest stroke of divine providence. But may the Great God, who in his tender mercy, has seen fit to remove the rose from our small garden and transplant it in his own, watch over the loved ones he left behind until they are united in that land where there will be no more sickness, sorrow, and death.
