Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1976 to 1982), he played at the free-safety, left-cornerback and right-cornerback positions in the National Football League with the Detroit Lions. He attended Silsbee High School, and played collegiate football at Grambling State University, achieving All-American status under the guidance of legendary coach Eddie Robinson. Hunter was selected by Detroit during the first round of the 1976 NFL Draft, and recorded 7 interceptions for 120 yards with 1 touchdown during his rookie year (1976), earning All-Pro honors. In 86 career regular season games, Hunter recorded 27 interceptions for 279 yards. Following his football career, he worked with Anheuser-Busch, Inc., and was involved with several charitable causes. He died from a heart attack.
