All instance of Jane Hodges contained within the bio or other should be changed to Jane Rutledge Hoge and or footnoted as to Hodge and Hoges She was daughter of John Brawley Hoge and Jane "Jenny" Rutledge. I found her nephew living beside my Great Grandfather, James Richardson St. John (1880 Census, Denton County, Texas) and backtracked her to her parents. She appears to have been about 10 years older than James Madison St. John. If I discover additional definitive information I will advise. For reference, please include Madison in the Nick although it may be subject to change.

James Madison St. John could be a son or grandson of Joseph St. John, the son of 81 Job St. John the son of Captain Samuel St. John and Rebecca Olmstead. I descend from 81A Ebenezer St. John, Job's brother.

Job and his sons Noah and Joseph left Ulster, New York in 1790 and appeared in Washington, Virginia in 1790 as Job St. John and sons.

Joseph St. John married Jemima Mooneyham or Woolsey 9 Oct 1791 in Green, Platte, Missouri.

His identified children are as follows:

Noah Alexander St. John (descendant y-DNA tested) b. 4 May 1797 TN d. Dec 1881 Platte Missouri
Job St. John b. abt. 1799 TN d. 25 Dec 1856 KY
William Robert St. John b. 4 May 1901 Greenville, TN d. 3 Oct 1867 Green, Platte, Missouri
Sarah St. John b. abt. 1803 TN m. Thomas Mooneyham
John St. John b. abt. 1808 TN d. aft. 1870 Clinton, Missouri

Possible son: James Madison St. John b. 1815 TN/VA/MO ???

If you know of any living male St. John descendants with the St. John surname and a St. John father, grandfather, etc a Y-DNA test could confirm this hypothesis.
