Electa went to Hancock Co., Georgia on Sept. 30, 1816 and died there less than a year later while governess of the Mt. Zion Female Academy.

Electa has a cenotaph at Middlebury Cemetery in her hometown of Middlebury, Vermont.

She died "unmarried at 'Mount Zion' Sparta, Ga., at the house of Rev. N. S. S. Beman, D.D., afterwards of Troy, N.Y. in who Seminary for Young Ladies she was at the time a teacher."
