Dana Ardwin Reicks, 36, was born March 9, 1972, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Ardwin and Edna (Blong) Reicks, and died September 18 at his home near Jerico, Iowa from colon cancer. He was baptized at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Lawler. He graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1990. Dana attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA where he was a 1995 graduate. Dana also studied for two years in Bogota, Columbia to learn Spanish fluently. In 2001, Dana earned his Juris Doctor degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN. On September 4, 2004, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler, he married Karen Croatt. Dana worked for the State of Minnesota, under the Honorable Judge James Fabian and was a licensed attorney. Dana enjoyed discussing and reading about history and politics. He traveled extensively, exploring a variety of cultures throughout the world. Dana was an avid Cyclone Fan and possessed a unique sense of humor. However, his greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his warm-hearted personality and positive outlook on life. Dana was an inspiration to all the people whose lives he touched. Survivors include his wife, Karen; his parents, Ardwin and Edna Reicks of Lawler; four brothers, Dale (Laura) Reicks of New Hampton, Dan (Nona) Reicks of New Hampton, Dean (Sandy) Reicks of Lawler, Darwin (Shelley) Reicks of St. Peter, MN; mother-in-law, Susan Croatt of New Hampton; father-in-law, Gerald (Kris) Croatt of Ossian, IA; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Blong; paternal grandparents, Victor and Mary Reicks and his niece Melissa Reicks.
