Francis ``Frank'' B. Spires , 84, of Lakeland Dr., died Monday, December 18, 2006 at his residence.

Mr. Spires was born in Georgetown, the son of the late David Oscar and Beulah Keefe Spires .

He was a U.S. Army Aircorps veteran of World War II where he served as a P-51 pilot. He was a chemist with Stilley Plywood, National Polychemicals, and Georgia Pacific. Mr. Spires retired from Furniture Veneers Inc. as president and owner.

Mr. Spires was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he had previously served on several boards and committees.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ernestine Bellamy Spires and a grandson, Micah Spires .

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Allsbrook Spires ; one son, Greg Spires and wife, Leeny, of Dorchester; two daughters, Tonya Spires of Conway, Che' Martin and husband, Stony, of Goose Creek; two grandchildren, Annajane Martin and Daniel Martin; one sister, Miriam Anderson and husband, Wallace, of Conway; a goddaughter, Alison Holmes Jordan and her husband, Justin, of Conway; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2006 from Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker and the Rev. Gene Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the funeral home.
