CULLMAN - Two brothers were killed Saturday night when one of them lost control of the car in which they were riding and slammed it into a bridge abutment on Old Corn Road here, according to Cullman County Coroner David Moss.
Ronnie Lee Nelson, 16, Vinemont 3, driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Moss. His brother, Timmie Mitchell Nelson, 12, was taken to Cullman Hospital where he died a short time later, Moss said.
The two boys were the car's only occupants, Moss said.
The pair had been out riding around and were apparently returning to their home when the accident occurred, a relative said.
Funeral for the brothers was scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Higdon's Chapel, Rev. Wayne Vincent officiating, burial in Wallace Cemetery, Lawrence County, Higdon Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include their mother, Mrs. Cora Nelson; a sister, Bobbie Nell Nelson; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Randolph.
