Roy Stafford Ledenham, 88, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010, in San Antonio. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, at Porter Loring North Chapel. Mel Hutzler will officiate. Private interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 1, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Roy Stafford was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Monroe Stafford Ledenham and Carrie D. Hardison Ledenham. He graduated from West High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1946. He met Geraldine Curlin on the campus of Baylor University at a Citizenship Seminar. They married in 1944.

Roy went to sheet metal apprenticeship school for four years and then worked as a journeyman for 29 years, first in Waco, then for Bentley Sheet Metal in San Antonio. While with Bentley, in 1968, he helped with the roof construction of the Hemisfair Tower of the Americas. He was also a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Number 67.

In 1982, he and his wife opened Villita Stained Glass in historic LaVillita. Roy was a self-taught sculptor.

He served in the capacity of Deacon at the Herring Avenue Church of Christ in Waco, and again at Northside Church of Christ in San Antonio. He was a charter member of Northern Oaks Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Geraldine Curlin Ledenham; daughter, Melvillyn Adame and husband, Robert; grandson, Chad E. Adame and wife, Lorie; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kayla Adame; brother, A.V. Ledenham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
