Vivian J. Dakan
Vivian J. Dakan, 88, of Billings, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at her home. The daughter of Joseph and Mary Halasek, Vivian was born May 7, 1919, in South Dakota. At a young age she moved with her family to Omaha where she grew up and graduated high school.
In 1941, Vivian married Leo F. Larson in Omaha. Mr. Larson was a construction manager for Peter Kewit and the family lived in North Dakota, South Dakota, Sheridan, Wyo., and Montana. He passed away, Nov. 12, 1977.
On Oct. 19, 1981, Vivian married Frank Dakan in Billings. Together they enjoyed traveling and had visited Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Frank passed away, Sept. 1, 2003.
Vivian was active with the Elks and Shrine, and volunteered as a Pink Lady with the Deaconess Hospital. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Survivors include her children, Georgia Larson of St. Paul, Minn., Jack Larson (Cindy) of Billings and grandchildren, Jesse Larson, Susan Raida, and Sharyl Raida.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Helen Keyes and two brothers Clarence and Dick Halasek.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with interment at Mountview cemetery. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22.
