Stanley K. "Stan" Chrisman, 73, of Vandalia, died at 8:37 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, at home with his family at his side.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with Pastor Viktoria Halmagyi officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday, both at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: St. James Lutheran Church or Fayette County Relay for Life.

Mr. Chrisman was born on Dec. 24, 1936, in Vandalia, the son of Norval and Lillie McEndollar Chrisman. He married Donna B. Brown on Oct. 4, 1955, in Ramsey.

He retired from AT&T and later from truck driving. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447, Temperance Lodge No. 16 A.F. & A.M. of Vandalia, Ainad Shriners of East St. Louis and Valley of Southern Illinois Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at Vandalia Lake; traveling; and volunteering for Meals and Wheels.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kim and her husband Marion Bogle of Wellsville, Kan., and Beth and her husband Stephen Tarter of Vandalia; sister, Iris Morrison of Vandalia; grandchildren, Tara, Travis and Tori Tarter, all of Vandalia; stepgrandchildren, Jeff Bogle and his wife Jenny of Carthage, Mo., Ron Bogle and his wife Stacy of Cushing, Okla., and Jason Bogle and his wife Melissa of Sand Springs, Okla.; and great-stepgrandchildren, Samantha, Taylor, Justin and Jessi Bogle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
