Mary Ettie Cummings was the oldest of eleven children of William Henry Harrison Cummings and Mary Campbell Taylor. She was born in Monroe County, Iowa, but moved with her family to Sullivan County, Missouri, and then to adjoining Putnam County, Missouri. She married James Wesley Childers 22 Mar 1894, in Putnam County, Missouri. The couple had two children, Elmer Roy Childers and Stella Mae Childers Wallace. Her siblings were: Anna Bell, Amanda Allice, James William, Clara Effie, Nellie Mariah, Viola Lutitia, Ivy May, Thomas Franklin, Ida Elsie, and George Henry Cummings. Mary Ettie died at the age of 95 years.
