CLARION - Glenn E. Gathers, 65, of 1340 31st Street, Erie, died at 2 p.m. Saturday in the St. Vincent Hospital, Erie, after an extended illness.
Born December 18, 1892, in Monroe Township, Clarion County, Mr. Gathers was the son of Emery L. Gathers and Mary Krauss Gathers. He married the former Adda E. Lewis. He formerly made his home in Clarion until he moved to Erie in 1925.
Mr. Gathers had retired last month. He had been maintenance foreman in the Lovell Manufacturing Company for 24 years.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Dale, Keith and Glenn E. Gathers, and one daughter, Romayne Peterson. Nine grandchildren also survive along with two sisters, Mrs. Alice Larson of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Lena Lewis of Clarion.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Schaal Funeral Home, Erie, with Rev. Lubeck of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie.
Donald Lewis, Robert Lewis and Elliott Lewis of Clarion RD 2 and Jack Lewis and William Lewis of Shippenville along with Joseph Tice were acting pallbearers.
Among those who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. George Larson, Mrs. Laurie McBride and Mrs. Hunter McGreary of Pittsburgh; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lewis and sons, Elliott, Donald, and Robert of Clarion RD 2; Mr. and Mrs. Audley Lewis, Clarion RD 2 and Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis of Clarion.
