From "Miss Allie Abernathy's Scrapbooks 1893 – 1923" page 77:

Death of a Good Woman.

Mrs. Lucinda J. Duke, wife of Mr. Richard Duke, near Buffalo, departed this life on last Saturday morning, after a severe illness. She had been an invalid for many years and bore her afflictions with much Christian fortitude. Mrs. Duke was born in Jasper County, Ga., in 1823 and was united in marriage to Mr. Richard Duke 51 years before her death. She was 76 years of age and had been a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist Church for a number of years, and died, as she had lived, a good and zealous Christian lady. Her remains were interred in the Macedonia Cemetery on last Sunday morning, the funeral services being conducted by her pastor, Elder J. T. Satterwhite. The deceased was beloved and highly esteemed by all who knew her and she will be sadly missed by her many relatives and friends. She leaves a husband, one brother, Mr. W. J. Cook, and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Butler, Mrs. Elizabeth Harrell and Mrs. Delilah Crawford, and other relatives mourn her departure, all with whom we sympathize.

One by one they're leaving,
This world of sinful strife,
To join the hosts of Heaven
‘Midst joys of endless life.

This precious one has left us
To meet the saints above,
Where she can sing the praises
Of Christ's redeeming love.
