Velma E. Stichler, Jan. 26, 1916-Jan. 9, 2008, Velma E. Stichler, 91, of 2383 N. Old U.S. 31, Rochester, died at 11:43 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Manor, Indianapolis. Born in Richland Township of Fulton County, she was the daughter of Harvey and Grace Overmyer Berkheiser. She lived most of her life in Marshall and Fulton counties. In 1933, she graduated from Richland Center High School. On March 2, 1935, at Lake Bruce, she married Theodore Stichler. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2006. A homemaker, she enjoyed counted cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and reading all types of books. Survivors include a son, Charles Buford Stichler, Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Stichler, Anderson; four grandsons, Ted Stichler, Lapel, Doug and Davis Stichler, Anderson, and Mark Jensen, Hamlet; a granddaughter, Desiree Jacobs, Lakeville; four great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, LaVonne Jensen, in 1969; a son, Theodore Garth Stichler, in 1981; two grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Burial will be at Richland Center IOOF Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at [email protected].
