Notes from Knollin Family Manuscript: "Richard Mortimor Knollin was born on July 28, 1816 in Ilsington, England, and came to America with his parents when eleven years of age. He was the 'exception' to his brothers - he never 'milled it.' But being a large strong young man - the largest of his father's family - he was a power behind the axe and when the family moved to Oswego Co. he was in good demand by settlers who were clearing more land, until he grew wise and 'took up' land of his own. His first wife, the mother of his sons, was Eliza Vichery. His second wife was Mrs. Mary Adams Wilder. He died in Sandy Creek, on July 22, 1903."
