Beam, Anna - Mrs. Anna Curtis Beam - Anna died 3 Feb 1953; buried 6 Feb 1953. - Mrs. Anna Curtis Beam, 81, of 503 Lakeside street, died at 7:20 o'clock last night as a result of burns suffered when her clothing caught fire yesterday afternoon at 12:50 o'clock. According to a report to the local fire department today by Mr. and Mrs. Earl F. Ebert, neighbors of Mrs. Beam living at 501 Lakeside street, Ebert was just leaving his house when he saw Mrs. Beam running from her house, her clothing afire. He and Mrs. Ebert immediately grabbed her, cut away her clothing, wrapped her in blankets, and took her to Fairview hospital, where she died last night. The fire department was not called, according to a spokesman today. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Mrs. Beam lived alone. Born in Austria Oct. 28, 1871, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Himmel, she had lived here 68 years, coming from Valparaiso. She was married to John Curtis here. He preceded her in death in 1911. Mrs. Beam was a member of the Christian church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Brightman, Bellwood, Ill., and Mrs. Ethel Brenn, Hollywood, Ill; four sons Lloyd, Landon, and Warren Curtis. and Edward Beam all of La Porte; one sister, Mrs. L. A. Bolster, La Porte; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the Haverstock chapel with burial in Pine Lake cemetery. The Rev. Doctor Charles R. Nafzger will officiate.
