YOUTH DIES IN TERRE HAUTE ROBBERY
The son of former Sullivan County residents was shot and killed Thursday at the 500 Platolene Service Station near Indiana 46 and Interstate I-70 where he worked.
Michael Dean Wilkey, 17, Terre Haute, was shot six times in a robbery at the station. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wilkey. Raymond Wilkey is formerly of Sullivan and his wife Fairie (Pounds) Wilkey is formerly of Graysville. Presently, they reside in Terre Haute.
The body of the shooting victim was discovered at the back of the gas station shortly before 10:00 p.m., police said.
Police speculate the youth was killed sometime between 9:15 and 9:45 p.m. The owner of the gas station said they have no suspects.
The youth was reported to have been a student at Terre Haute South High School.
Information concerning the funeral was not available at press time.
